Helping Families Access Affordable, High-Quality Child Care
Thanks to voter approval of Larimer County Ballot Measure 1B (passed with 51% support), a new county-wide 0.25% sales and use tax will take effect January 1, 2026, dedicated to expanding affordable, high-quality child care and preschool options. The tax is projected to raise an estimated $28 million annually to address Larimer County’s ongoing shortage of affordable, high-quality child care and preschool options!

Our team is currently in the planning stage, building the foundation for how these funds will be distributed to families, providers, and programs. Systems, staffing, and processes are being established throughout 2025 and 2026 to ensure transparent and effective implementation.

A One-Stop Solution for Child Care Support

United Way of Larimer County has partnered with Northern Colorado Kids Thrive to integrate child care tuition assistance into the Larimer Child Care Connect platform. This collaboration creates a seamless way for families to find child care and financial support in one place.

Hosting the Larimer Child Care Fund (LCCF) on Larimer Child Care Connect (LC3) allows families to explore child care programs throughout the county.

Families can search for providers that fit their child care needs, check for availability, and identify providers who are participating in the LCCF Program.

What is the Larimer Child Care Fund?

The Larimer Child Care Fund (LCCF) is a tuition assistance program that helps pay a portion of child care costs for low- to moderate-income families in Larimer County. It makes high-quality child care more affordable by providing scholarships for use at any licensed provider in the county.

The LCCF program supports families who don’t qualify for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) because of income limits, immigration status, or other eligibility factors. It ensures no qualifying family pays more than 15% of their income for child care throughout the year.
